Uncoated Flyer Printing

Natural, writable uncoated stock from 90gsm to 350gsm — seven sizes, delivered free.

Flyers With a Natural, Writable Finish

Uncoated paper has no sealing layer over the surface. Ink soaks into the fibres rather than sitting on top of them, which changes everything about how the finished flyer looks, feels and behaves.

The finish is matt and slightly textured. Colours come out softer and more muted than on silk. There's no sheen and no glare under lights. And critically, you can write on it — pen and pencil sit cleanly on the surface without smudging or beading.

That makes uncoated the right choice for anything with a form to fill in, a booking to note, or a message to add by hand. It also suits brands that want to read as considered and understated rather than glossy and mass-produced.

Seven sizes, five weights from 90gsm to 350gsm, from 25 flyers.

Sizes Available

  • A4 (210 x 297mm) — full page. Forms, service lists, order sheets and anything with real detail.
  • A5 (148 x 210mm) — the workhorse. Big enough for a proper message, small enough to hand out or post.
  • A6 (105 x 148mm) — postcard sized. Appointment cards, letterbox drops and inserts.
  • A7 (74 x 105mm) — compact. Loyalty cards, tickets and small handouts.
  • DL (99 x 210mm) — tall and slim, sized to fit a DL envelope without folding.
  • 148mm square — distinctive and compact.
  • 210mm square — the larger square, with room for a proper layout.

Choosing Your Weight

Five uncoated stocks, spanning everything from a lightweight sheet to something closer to card:

  • 90gsm — our lightest, close to standard letter paper. Best for high-volume letterbox drops and inserts where cost per piece matters most. Thin enough that a heavy marker may show through.
  • 120gsm — a step up in body, and the point where the flyer starts to feel like a proper printed piece rather than a photocopy. Good for forms and handouts that get written on.
  • 170gsm — noticeably substantial. The middle ground, and a sensible default if you're unsure.
  • 250gsm — heavy enough to hold its shape on a counter or in a rack without flopping. Suits menus, price lists and anything handled repeatedly.
  • 350gsm — effectively a card. Rigid, premium, and the option for appointment cards, loyalty cards or anything you want people to keep rather than fold into a pocket.

If the flyer is being written on, 120gsm or heavier is worth it — lighter stock lets ink bleed through to the reverse.

What Uncoated Does to Your Design

Worth knowing before you finalise artwork, because uncoated behaves differently to silk.

Because ink absorbs into the surface, colours print softer and less saturated than they appear on screen. Deep blacks and vivid brand colours in particular will look a shade more muted than the same file printed on a coated stock. That's the characteristic of uncoated rather than a fault, and it's much of the reason people choose it.

Designs with large areas of solid dark colour show the difference most. If your brand depends on a punchy, saturated colour, our silk flyer range will hold it better. If the design leans on typography, line work and white space, uncoated will flatter it.

Turnaround & Delivery

Choose a 1 working day turnaround for urgent orders, or 3–4 working days as standard. The first working day begins the day after your order is placed, and turnaround covers production only — delivery is on top of that.

Standard UK delivery is free on all uncoated flyer orders, whatever the size or quantity. Collection from our Burnley production facility is also available.

Want a coated finish instead? Our standard flyer printing range covers the same sizes on silk, and our laminated flyers add a protective gloss, matt or soft touch finish.

FAQs

What's the minimum order?
25 flyers.

What sizes can I have?
A4, A5, A6, A7, DL, 148mm square and 210mm square.

Can I write on them?
Yes. That's the main reason to choose uncoated — the surface takes pen and pencil cleanly without smudging or beading.

Which weight should I choose?
90gsm for high-volume drops where cost matters. 120gsm to 170gsm for general use and anything written on. 250gsm and 350gsm where the flyer needs to hold its shape or feel premium.

Will my colours look different to silk?
Slightly, yes. Ink absorbs into an uncoated surface, so colours print softer and less saturated. Designs with large solid dark areas show the difference most.

Can uncoated flyers be laminated?
Not on this product. Lamination would seal the surface and remove both the texture and the ability to write on it. Our laminated flyer range uses silk stock instead.

Will marker pens bleed through?
On 90gsm, heavier markers may show through to the reverse. Choose 120gsm or above if that matters.

How long does it take?
1 working day or 3–4 working days production, starting the day after you order, with delivery on top.

Is delivery really free?
Yes. Standard UK delivery is included on all uncoated flyer orders, with no minimum spend.
