A-Boards Without the A-Board Frame

A traditional pavement sign is a metal or plastic frame with a printed panel slotted in. Sturdy, reusable, and a serious piece of kit to store, carry and buy in quantity.

These are the opposite. Two printed faces joined by a base, folded and interlocked into an A-shape from a single sheet of 4mm fluted board. They arrive flat, fold up in seconds, cost a fraction of a framed sign, and stack away to nothing when the promotion's over.

Sizes and Pack Quantities

Boards are sold in packs sized to fill a full sheet of material. That's deliberate — it avoids the shape-cut charge that would otherwise apply, and keeps the cost per board down.

The 1000mm boards are full-height pavement signs. The 420mm boards are considerably smaller — tabletop or floor-level markers rather than something read from across a street.

Mixed Designs at No Extra Cost

Every board in a pack can carry a different design, and it costs the same as printing them all identically.

That's genuinely useful. A pack of eight 290 x 420mm boards could be eight different aisle markers, eight table numbers, or eight directional signs for an event — all in one order, one delivery, one price.

Handle Cut-Outs

Every board comes with a handle cut-out as standard, which makes carrying a stack of them straightforward when you're setting up.

If you'd rather not have them — because the cut-out interferes with your design, or the boards are staying put — just let us know when ordering and ignore those guide lines on the template. There's no cost difference either way.

Weighting Them Down

Worth being straight about this, because it's the main limitation.

These are lightweight by design. That's what makes them cheap, portable and easy to store — and it also means that outdoors, in any real wind, an unweighted board will move.

Weight the base section or peg the board into the ground for any outdoor use. We don't supply weights or pegs, so source those separately. Sandbags across the base, or tent pegs through it on grass, both work.

Indoors, they stand perfectly well on their own.

Where They Go

• Events and festivals — wayfinding, entry points, parking, queue markers. Cheap enough to put out twenty and not worry about them.
• Retail — aisle ends, promotions, sale signage that changes weekly.
• Open days and viewings — directional signs along a route.
• Sports and fun runs — course markers, mile signs, sponsor boards.
• Hospitality — table markers, buffet signage, garden directions.
• Short-term promotions — anything where a permanent A-board frame is more investment than the campaign justifies.

The Material

Printed on 4mm fluted board — corrugated plastic, waterproof and rigid enough to hold the A-shape under its own tension.

Printing is on a VUTEk H5, which gives colour and detail good enough for close indoor viewing rather than just distance signage. Cutting and creasing is done on a Zund cutter, so the folds are clean and the board interlocks properly rather than needing tape.

Being honest about lifespan: fluted board is a short-to-medium term material. It'll survive a season of events comfortably, but it isn't a permanent fixture, and it'll show wear if it's out in all weathers for a year.

Artwork

Free templates are available for all six sizes.

A few things worth knowing:

Both faces print. Supply artwork for each side — they don't need to match.

Mind the fold and the base. The template shows where the crease falls and where the base section sits. Content across those areas gets interrupted or ends up on the floor.

The handle cut-out is marked on the template. Keep logos and text clear of it, or delete the guide line if you're going without.

Supply as PDF in CMYK at 300dpi, with fonts outlined and no template guide lines included in the exported file.

Every file is checked by a real person before printing, so obvious problems get flagged. We don't make changes or fixes to artwork — files should be supplied print-ready.

Turnaround & Delivery

Production takes 3–4 working days. Turnaround covers production only — delivery is on top of that.

Standard UK delivery is free on all A-board orders. Boards are dispatched flat and securely packed. Collection from our Burnley production facility is also available.

Need something more permanent? Our pavement swing signs use a steel frame and weighted base, and our bollard covers use the same fold-and-interlock construction for existing street furniture.

What sizes are available?
Six: 590 x 1000mm, 390 x 1000mm, 290 x 1000mm, 590 x 420mm, 390 x 420mm and 290 x 420mm.

Why are they sold in packs?
Each pack fills a full sheet of board, which avoids the shape-cut charge and keeps the price per board down. Pack size varies with board size, from two of the largest to eight of the smallest.

Can I have different designs in one pack?
Yes, at no extra cost. Every board can be different.

Do they come assembled?
No. They arrive flat and pre-creased, and fold and interlock into shape in seconds. No tools or tape needed.

Are both sides printed?
Yes, both faces of the A-shape.

Will they blow over outdoors?
They will if unweighted. Weight the base section or peg the board down for any outdoor use. We don't supply weights or pegs.

Are they waterproof?
The fluted board is waterproof, so rain won't damage them. They're still a lightweight short-to-medium term product rather than permanent signage.

Can I have them without handle cut-outs?
Yes, just tell us when ordering. There's no cost difference.

How long does it take?
