A Banner Stand That Can Stay Outside

Most portable display kit can't go outdoors. Roller banners blow over, exhibition stands aren't built for rain, and anything light enough to carry easily is light enough to end up in a hedge.

This one is designed for it. A telescopic pole and a water-fillable base holding an 800 x 2000mm banner on 440gsm outdoor PVC. Fill the base on site and it stays put.

Why the Water Base Matters

Empty, the stand weighs 3.6kg — light enough to carry to the car in one hand. Filled, the base takes around 15 litres, which adds roughly 15kg exactly where it's needed.

That's the trick. It travels light and stands heavy. At the end of the day, empty the base and it goes back in the boot without needing two people or a trolley.

Fill it on site rather than before you travel — 15 litres of water sloshing around in a van is not worth the effort.

Wind and the Beaufort Rating

Rated to Beaufort scale 4, which is 13–18mph. Worth understanding what that means in practice rather than treating it as a number on a spec sheet.

Beaufort 4 is a moderate breeze — small branches moving, dust and loose paper lifting. Below that, a filled base holds the stand steady. Above it, bring the stand in or take the graphic off. A 2-metre banner presents a large flat surface, and no amount of water in a base makes that safe in a gale.

Position it on level ground with the base properly filled, and keep an eye on the forecast if it's going out for several days.

Designing Your Banner

The bottom of the banner is at ground level, unlike a roller banner where the cassette lifts it. That means the lower section is genuinely visible — but also that it's the part most likely to be obscured by people standing in front of it at a busy event. Keep the key message in the upper two thirds.

Allow for the welded hem. The template marks where the hem falls around the edge of the graphic. Treat that strip as a quiet area — background only, no text or logos.

Check resolution at full size. The banner is two metres tall, and an image that looks sharp on screen can fall apart at that scale. Make sure photographs are genuinely high resolution rather than upscaled.

A free template is available. If you're using it, check the eyelet position marks have been removed before exporting your print-ready file — they sit on a separate layer in the InDesign and Illustrator versions, but won't always drop out automatically.

Every file is checked by a real person before printing, so obvious problems get flagged. We don't make changes or fixes to artwork — files should be supplied print-ready.

Replacement Graphics

The hardware outlasts the campaign. Replacement banners can be ordered separately and fitted in minutes, so you keep the pole and base and change only the graphic when the message does.
