Christening Signs, Printed From Your Design

A welcome board at a christening does the simple things well. It greets people at the church hall or the venue, it carries the baby's name and the date, and it usually ends up in a fair few photographs.

Upload your design and we'll print it on 5mm foam board in A1 or A2, ready to stand on an easel. No minimum order, so one board is as straightforward as a set.

Already Bought a Design on Etsy or Canva?

Most christening boards we print started as a downloaded template. The design is done — you just need it printed properly.

Two things worth checking first:

Is it the right size? Templates are often sold at US sizes — 18x24 or 24x36 inches — rather than A1 or A2. A US-size file printed at A2 means white edges or content getting cropped. Most sellers will supply an A-size version if you ask.

Is it a print-ready PDF? A JPEG saved for screen will look soft at A1. You want a PDF at 300dpi, at full size.

If you're unsure, send it over — we check every file before printing and will tell you if there's a problem.

Sizes

• A2 (420 x 594mm) — good for a table sign, a directional board, or a welcome sign at a smaller gathering.
• A1 (594 x 841mm) — twice the area, and the usual choice for a main welcome board at the entrance.

If the board is going to appear in the photographs, A1 has more presence and reads properly from across a room.

What People Use Them For

Gloss or Matt?

Both protect the board. The difference shows in photographs.

Matt has no shine, so it won't reflect a camera flash, a window or overhead lighting. Church halls and function rooms are usually lit from above, which makes matt the safer choice for anything that'll be photographed.

Gloss gives richer, deeper colour in person, which suits designs with strong colour or a single striking image.

For boards with a printed photograph, matt generally looks better — gloss can make a printed photo look glassy under direct light.

The Board

Printed on 5mm solid PVC foam board — rigid enough to stand on an easel without bowing, light enough to carry and set up on your own.

It's solid board rather than paper-faced foam, so the edges stay clean and it won't dent if it's knocked. It travels well between the church and the reception, and it keeps properly afterwards if it's the sort of board you want to hold on to.

Boards are supplied printed only — easels aren't included. Most venues have them.

Free templates are available for both sizes.

If you're including a photograph, use the original file from the camera roll rather than one that's been sent by WhatsApp or saved from social media. Both compress images heavily, and it shows when printed at A1.

One note on colour: designs made on screen are in RGB and are converted to CMYK for printing. The soft pastels and neutrals most christening stationery uses reproduce accurately. Very bright or neon shades will print slightly more muted than they look on a screen.

Every file is checked by a real person before printing, so obvious problems get flagged. We don't make changes or fixes to artwork — files should be supplied print-ready.

Turnaround & Delivery

Production takes 2 working days from receipt of artwork. Turnaround covers production only — delivery is on top of that.

UK delivery is £6.50 per order, reflecting the size of the boards. Collection from our Burnley production facility is also available.

Worth ordering a week or so ahead rather than the day before, so there's room to sort out a file problem if one comes up.

Do you supply an easel?
No, boards are supplied printed only. Most venues have them available.

Should I choose gloss or matt?
Matt if the board will be photographed or has a printed photo on it. Gloss for richer colour on bold, graphic designs.

What's the board made of?

Will it last as a keepsake?
Yes. Foam board keeps well indoors and the laminated surface protects the print, so it'll still look good years later.
