Choosing the Right Roller Banner

A roller banner is the most practical piece of display kit most businesses own. It goes up in seconds, packs into its own base, and puts two metres of branding at eye level wherever you need it — trade stands, shop floors, reception areas, conferences and open days.

We print eight variations, covering everything from an A4 counter unit to a 1500mm backdrop. Free UK delivery on all of them.

Specialist Formats

Which Width?

800mm is the UK standard and what most exhibition spaces are laid out around. If you're unsure, this is the safe choice.

850mm and 1000mm give a little more room for artwork without significantly changing the footprint.

1200mm and 1500mm read as a display rather than a sign. Better suited to reception areas, backdrops and open floor space than a shell scheme slot.

If you're exhibiting, check your stand dimensions first — a 1500mm banner in a 2m space leaves very little room for anything else.

PVC or Fabric?

Most of our range prints on 330gsm grey-back PVC. The grey backing blocks light so the banner doesn't wash out in front of a window, and the weight keeps it hanging flat rather than curling after repeated roll-ups.

Stretch fabric behaves differently. It tensions over a frame rather than hanging from a roller, so there's no crease down the middle and no glare under lights — which is why press walls and photo backdrops use it. It also folds into a bag rather than travelling as a rigid tube, and it washes.

PVC sets up faster and costs less. Fabric photographs better and travels easier.

Standard or Premium Cassette?

The cassette is the base the graphic rolls into, and it's what determines how long the banner lasts rather than how it looks.

A standard cassette is fine for occasional use — a few events a year, then back in a cupboard.

A premium cassette is heavier. Weight in the base keeps a two-metre banner standing steady rather than rocking when someone brushes past, and a heavier housing takes the strain of repeated roll-ups without the mechanism wearing. It comes with a padded carry bag rather than a basic sleeve, which matters because most damage happens in transit rather than in use.

Designing for a Roller Banner

Two things catch people out at this format, whichever product you choose.

The bottom 100mm disappears into the cassette, and at an event the lower third is usually blocked by tables, people and other stands. Keep logos, headlines and contact details in the top two thirds.

Resolution matters more than you'd expect. An image that looks sharp on screen is being enlarged to two metres tall. Check photographs are genuinely high resolution at full size rather than scaled up — it's the most common reason a banner arrives looking soft.

Turnaround & Delivery

Most products offer a 1 working day turnaround alongside standard 3–4 day production. The first working day begins the day after your order is placed, and turnaround covers production only — delivery is on top of that.

Every banner is supplied fully assembled, with the graphic already fitted into the cassette, ready to stand up on site.

Standard UK delivery is free on every roller banner order, whatever the size or quantity. Collection from our Burnley production facility is also available.

Artwork

Supply a print-ready PDF at your chosen finished size in CMYK, with bleed as specified in the template and fonts outlined or embedded. Free templates are available for every size and format.

Every file is checked by a real person before printing, so obvious problems get flagged. We don't make changes or fixes to artwork — files should be supplied print-ready.
