Choosing the Right Poster for the Job
Poster printing still does something digital can't — it occupies physical space, in a place people are already looking. Shop windows, exhibition boards, event signage, academic conferences, site hoardings and internal noticeboards all rely on it.
We print posters from A4 up to wide format, in full colour on silk stock, plus specialist options for outdoor and illuminated display. Short runs are no problem — most sizes start at a handful of copies rather than requiring bulk.
Which Poster Size Do You Need?
- A4 (210 x 297mm) — the most compact. Noticeboards, counters, window cards, and anywhere space is tight but a message still needs to be seen.
- A3 (297 x 420mm) — the most popular indoor size. Promotions, menus, retail signage and events. The default if you're not sure.
- A2 (420 x 594mm) — the middle ground. Noticeably bigger than A3 without moving into wide-format territory or cost.
- A1 (594 x 841mm) — carries at distance. Exhibition boards, shop windows, large-scale promotion and anywhere people are moving past rather than standing still.
- Wide format — A0 and beyond, for the largest displays.
Specialist Poster Printing
Not every poster is a sheet of silk paper on an indoor wall:
- Waterproof posters — printed on matt white PVC in 220mic or 400mic. Built for construction sites, hoardings, outdoor events and anywhere weather is a factor.
- Backlit posters — printed on 205-micron Coala film for lightboxes and illuminated displays. Even light diffusion, water-resistant, no minimum order.
- Student posters — A2, A1 and A0 for dissertations, conferences and academic presentations, with optional gloss lamination for posters that need to travel.
Paper Stocks
Standard posters are printed on silk stock, with the weights available depending on size. Lighter weights suit short-term promotion and posters that get swapped out regularly; heavier weights hold their shape better and last longer on display, which matters more the larger the poster gets.

Turnaround & Artwork
Most poster sizes offer a 1 working day turnaround alongside standard production. The first working day begins the day after your order is placed, and turnaround covers production only — delivery is on top of that.

Every file is checked by a real person before it goes to print, so obvious problems get flagged rather than printed. We don't make changes or fixes to artwork, so files should be supplied print-ready.
A note on resolution: artwork that looks fine at A4 often falls apart when scaled up. Check images are genuinely 300dpi at full size rather than upscaled from something smaller.
